And let’s talk ‘bout me!

So hello, I guess if you’re still reading than I will introduce myself! I’m Dweller, just Dwell, or “dwlr” in text. I find making video games fun. I started coding somewhere around 14-15 year old. When I was younger I always messed with HTML things, though to be honest I didn’t know what I was doing. Now, back to 14-15 y.o. me, I attended some IT courses and there I learned some stuff in IT sphere like: OS administration, digital design and basic programming.
By digital design I mean things like raster graphics (in Adobe Photoshop) and vector graphics (in Illustrator and Flash). I’m not good, not even decent artist so I wasn’t fancy about that, but it was a cool experience.
About programming, they were teaching us different things like: HTML + CSS, JavaScript and C. I liked C the most, because it was a quite powerful tool and though a bit hard in some ways (POINTERS!), it is still awesome language. I made my first game using C. It was simple console ASCII-Graphics based game. I didn’t finished it as I lost interest after I used it to pass exam without doing actual exam.
So after C, they taught us Flash. It was really not what I thought it would be. I thought they would teach us ActionScript so I can make Flash games. At that time Flash games were really popular, so I was really excited! Well, all we did there was simple and boring slideshows in flash. What a waste of time. But I started to get into ActionScript myself, but without good book and/or tutorial I just said: “ah, whatever I better do something in C”.
After I finished the courses I was also really into Minecraft, so I wanted to make a mod and add something my own to the game I like. That meant, I need to learn Java.
So after a tiny bit of tutorials I rushed into deobfuscated code of the Minecraft. I wasn’t ready at that point with that little knowledge of Java to do something, but I did manage to add some blocks and armor and items to the game. I threw myself into the deep end and got discouraged because of my lack of skills, which lead me to stop programming for a while. But I picked up C# and XNA a bit later, which lead me to Unity (the game engine) and that rekindled the spark again.
